چکیده
This paper analyzes one of the most important power capture challenges DC series–parallel collection system, called curtailment losses. The wind speed difference between series-connected turbines causes over- and under-voltage conditions in output voltage MVDC (medium-voltage DC) converters turbine. losses caused by upper-voltage tolerance levels are analyzed considering a redundancy-based limiting condition. analysis emphasizes importance choosing suitable for based on farm configuration. annual energy quantified evaluated comparative case study performed series–parallel-connected rated at 200 MW with

DC Connection of Offshore Wind Power Plants without Platform
This paper introduces the concepts of platformless DC connections of offshore wind turbines. First, the paper describes the possible and preferred wind turbine drivetrain arrangements capable of producing sufficiently high DC voltage. Then, the electrical system designs appropriate for the platformless DC architectures are discussed. After that, the potential economic benefits of direct DC conn...
متن کاملLoad Flow Analysis of Hybrid AC-DC Power System with Offshore Wind Power
The offshore wind power has received immense attention because of higher wind speed and lower opposition for construction. A wide range of combinations of high-voltage ACDC transmission have been proposed for integrating offshore wind farms and long-distance power transmission. This paper is to model such hybrid AC-DC systems including the interfacing converters, which have several control para...
متن کاملOptimal Maintenance Management of Offshore Wind Farms
Nowadays offshore wind energy is the renewable energy source with the highest growth. Offshore wind farms are composed of large and complex wind turbines, requiring a high level of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS). Firms are employing robust remote condition monitoring systems in order to improve RAMS, considering the difficulty to access the wind farm. The main obje...
متن کاملOperation and Power Flow Control of Multi-Terminal DC Networks for Grid Integration of Offshore Wind Farms Using Genetic Algorithms
For achieving the European renewable electricity targets, a significant contribution is foreseen to come from offshore wind energy. Considering the large scale of the future planned offshore wind farms and the increasing distances to shore, grid integration through a transnational DC network is desirable for several reasons. This article investigates a nine-node DC grid connecting three norther...
متن کاملThe Impact of Future Offshore Wind Farms on Wind Power Generation in Great Britain
In the coming years the geographical distribution of wind farms in Great Britain is expected to change significantly. Following the development of the “round 3” wind zones (circa 2025), most of the installed capacity will be located in large offshore wind farms. However, the impact of this change in wind-farm distribution on the characteristics of national wind generation is largely unknown. Th...
